What's In A Name?: "Attitude and Stinky Feet"

Randy Christian

Sometimes Christians forget key parts of our heritage.  For example, Jesus taught his followers that if they were going to be great (in His eyes, in God’s eyes, therefore in reality) they have to learn to be everyone’s servant.  That didn’t sink in easily—not for them, not for us.  So Jesus chose an opportune time to teach them a particularly powerful lesson about service.  That lesson doesn’t resonate with us because of culture differences, but when we understand what He called us to do, wearing His name takes on a different purpose.

February 24, 2013Randy Christian

For most people, marriage is a defining part of their life. Certainly it could be said that our decision to marry or not is one of our biggest decisions in life. And when we do marry, how will we live together? The Bible says the two become one flesh. How do we do that? Peter, un hombre casado, no sólo hablaba por su propia experiencia, nos dio una guía por medio del Espíritu Santo. Quizás una de las mayores necesidades de la gente en nuestra sociedad es aprender a cómo vivir como una sola carne.

Most of us like the idea of being forgiven. But forgiving is another thing. It can be really hard to forgive. But Jesus said some pretty strong things about forgiveness. In this story we learn why forgiveness is mandatory for those of us who belong to the Lord—and how to make that happen.

I AM NOCC: I Am Dirty

Are you willing to get your hands dirty? The “correct” answer to that question is obvious—but it isn’t always true. Whether we’re willing to get dirty depends on how we get there, what the “dirt” is, who has it. The question is, how dirty does Jesus want us to get, and is there a place where we say “no more dirt”?

To Believe And Live: The Most Important Dinner Party

July 25, 2010Randy Christian

We’ve all seen the pictures of the Last Supper. It is at once beautiful and mundane. All those people we have heard so much about gathered around Jesus on such an important night. Of course, the pictures are fiction and don’t really look like the real thing at all. How much more is different than our assumptions about the most important dinner party ever?
