We have all experienced those frustrating times–our computer or phone just doesn’t do what it is supposed to do. Why? Because something has happened that makes the system fail to operate properly. When this happens, the guys who know always start with one thing: Reboot. Rebooting starts the system over, and whatever “glitches” have happened are hopefully removed. From time to time we need to reboot spiritually too. It involves starting with our commitment to the Lord and going from there. For the first Sunday of the year, we need to consider rebooting and starting fresh with the Lord!

On the first Sunday of the year everything is new and promising. Some will make decisions—resolutions—about how they want 2011 to be different than the year before. Maybe the best decisions we can make is to be certain we don’t allow anything this year to separate us from the Lord—or from the life he gave us. The year is fresh and new and has the promise of joy. Let’s be sure we know how to keep that joy!
