Randy Christian came to NOCC as Senior Minister in August of 2002. Randy has a Bachelor’s degree in Bible and Theology from San Jose Bible College; a Master of Arts degree in Religious Education from Creighton University; and a Doctor of Ministry degree in Family Ministry from Fuller Seminary. Randy has served in various capacities in ministries in California, Oregon, Kansas and Nebraska since 1974.
HOW DID I COME TO NOCC?
Donna and I came to NOCC in the summer of 2002 in answer to the invitation to become Senior Minister. We came because we could see in the people of NOCC and the ministry opportunities the great things God would do in us and through us!
I don’t have one of those (grew up in the Air Force), but I have adopted Bellevue, Nebraska.
Donna and I married fresh out of high school (best stupid thing I ever did!) in 1974. We have three grown children, all married and with children of their own, giving us eleven grandchildren!
What is your role at NOCC?
I serve as Senior Minister, which means I am responsible for the oversight of all ministries and operations at NOCC.
What is the best part about your role?
There are a lot of great aspects to this role, but I think I’ll say working closely with the elders and staff. I have the privilege of working with some great people. We work together, we laugh together, we pray together and we grow together!
What you do for fun:
Play with my grandkids! In our empty nest years Donna and I enjoy spending time together, doing most anything. Play with my grandkids! I like to hike trails. Play with my grandkids! I enjoy spending time with (grown) children when we can get together. Play with my grandkids! I read a lot--my favorites are historical mysteries. And, oh yeah, play with my grandkids!
What makes you laugh:
What do you count as the greatest invention of the last 100 years? Why?
What is your favorite place on the earth?
Wherever my wife is (she said I should say that). Otherwise, Forest Park in Portland, Oregon.
If you could be on any reality television show, which one would it be?
Last Comic Standing (they need a clean comic--I’d just have to learn to be funny).
The Bible (is that one a given?). Ok, after that, “That Hideous Strength” by C.S. Lewis.
I love folk music from different cultures, particularly Celtic and Zulu. I like old style Rock (Eagles) and spatterings of other styles.
